1846 At a lecture to the Mechanics Institute at the Courthouse in Charlottetown, Abraham Gesner lectures on caloric (heat). He unveils his newly invented fuel oil -- kerosene. His audience was enthusiastic but little knew they were witnessing the birth of the petroleum refining industry.

The PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation takes great pride in producing the only remaining magazine of its kind created and printed entirely on Prince Edward Island.
